John Hopfield and Geoffrey Hinton pioneered machine learning to identify specific objects through images and data. Two scientists were honored by the Nobel Prize in Physics for their incredible discovery.
After medicine, two scientists (one from the USA and another from Canada) jointly secured the Nobel Prize in Physics for their discovery of neuron networks in the field of AI. The award was announced on Tuesday in Stockholm, the capital city of Sweden. This award was honored to John Hopfield (Princeton University, USA) and Geoffrey Hinton (University of Toronto, Canada). The two scientists were jointly awarded the Nobel Prize for their fundamental discoveries in machine learning with the help of artificial neural networks.
This discovery was explained by Elaine Munns, a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences Nobel Committee. According to him, this scientific duo artificial neural network (that is, a model of machine learning) works like the nerves of the brain. This discovery is very helpful in the practical application of daily tasks such as facial expression, face recognition, or language translation. John Hopfield and Geoffrey Hinton used the basic concepts of statistical physics to build that artificial neural network.

On the other hand, the British-Canadian Geoffrey Hinton working at the University of Toronto is said to be the ‘Godfather’ of Artificial Intelligence. He worked at Google till 2023. He invented a thing that would automatically find things through any data. Apart from this, it is capable of identifying specific subjects from within an image. This is an advanced identifying method and will work like a human brain.
